Mukuru Residents to Benefit From Ksh 1 billion Affordable Housing Project

Residents of Mukuru might soon benefit from the government’s affordable housing project as the state has released that will help develop houses in the area.

The Cabinet, on Thursday, approved a Ksh 15 billion project for the implementation of the Mukuru Social Housing Project. The project is the first social housing programme in the country’s history.

The project will see Mukuru residents benefit from over 13,000 affordable housing units.


President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has been pushing for affordable housing since he came to office, chaired the meeting where the project was approved.  

The Mukuru Social Housing Project will be undertaken as a joint venture between the government and private investors.  

President Kenyatta has been committal in striving to fulfill his agenda on affordable housing which is part of his administration big four agenda.

Affordable Housing is one of his big four agendas which also include Affordable Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Food Security.
