p>As a result of the continuing impact of Covid-19 on the tourism sector, Sarova Hotels has decided to stop managing two properties that sit within the iconic Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. A move that is set to take effect in July 2020.

Having managed the Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge and Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge for over 13 years, the hospitality chain announced on Thursday.

This move has left the chain with only seven properties under its portfolio.

Operations in the Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge were suspended along with four others in March following the restrictions imposed by the government on travelers coming into the country.

Additionally, measures such as social distancing and movement restrictions put further strain on the profitability of the sector as potential customers stayed away.

Sarova Hotels Kenya managing director, Jimi Kariuki, assured the property owners of the two lodges that all contractual obligations and commitments made by the chain regarding the two properties would be honored up to June 30th.
