Avenir Telecom, a listed phone manufacturer based in France, has entered the Kenyan phone market in partnership with Nairobi’s Vivus Tecno Ltd.

Daniel Kiplimo, Vivus head of sales, said it was chosen to be the manufacturer’s local representative for activities such as sale and offering of after-sales service of mobile phones sourced from Avenir.

Initially, the firm mainly offered items such as phones that ranged from a feature phone worth Sh1,200 to the Sh5,000 smartphone.

They also offered high-end cordless phone chargers and power banks.

The thirty-year-old mobile telephony and laptop manufacturer tasked the role of marketing its products within East Africa to Vivus Techno.

The entry of Energizer mobile into the Kenyan market is a key milestone in its growth within Africa. It sells low cost 6,000mAh battery smartphones, rugged devices and KaiOS powered feature phones

The manufacture is currently operating heavily in the Middle East and Europe with its products sold in over 140 states and according to Mr. Kiplimo; South Africa, Kenya and Egypt are its next target markets.
